3. Skipping Regular Reconciliation

If you’re not reconciling your accounts monthly, you’re flying blind. Think of reconciliation like checking your speedometer. It tells you if your books actually match your bank and credit card statements and if not, where the errors are.

4. Ignoring Accounts Receivable and Payable

Do you know who owes you money and who you still owe? If your accounts receivable and accounts payable are outdated or ignored, it can make your business look worse (or better) on paper than it really is and that’s dangerous.

5. Waiting Until Tax Time to “Deal With It”

It’s tempting to wait until the end of the year and just hand everything off to your tax pro, but if your books are messy or inaccurate, you’re leaving money on the table and taking unnecessary risks. Bookkeeping isn’t just for taxes, it’s for clarity and growth.
